Growing up I remember my mom sewing regularly. She would mend our clothes, especially tears in our jeans and socks, and make some dresses for my sister. She also did little craft projects like stockings for Christmas and little back pack. It was just handy to have a sewing machine. I went down to the fabric store to see what they had and was scared by sticker shock. They wanted close to a thousand dollars for their machines. And while I will admit they were state of the art high end machines it was a little over board for someone wanting to mend clothes and do some crafts.
